Hoy added: "The 360 degree seating means that no matter where you are in the stadium you can see the full track and there's seats the whole way around.

"So, instead of having noise in the back-straight and the home-straight as you go around you get this wall of noise the whole way and it creates this gladiatorial arena."

Olympic officials are meeting to decide whether West Ham or Tottenham will take over the main Olympic stadium after the 2012 London Games. Friday's vote by the OPLC board comes after months of fierce debate and rancor over the future of the 537 million-pound ($867 million) stadium, which will stage the opening and closing observancies and track and field opposition in 2012.

West Ham proposes downsizing the 80,000-seat stadium to a 60,000-capacity stadium that would retain the Olympic running track. Tottenham would tear down most of the stadium and put up a purpose-built 60,000-seat football stadium on the same site without a track.
